Lampung: Birding Tour to Way Kambas – Way Kanan 4D3N 

Birding Way Kambas National Park is a National park covering 1,300 km2, in Lampung province of southern Sumatra, Indonesia.
It consists of swamp forest and lowland rain forest, mostly of secondary growth as result of extensive logging in the 1960s and 1970s.Despite decreasing populations, the park still has a few critically endangered Sumatran tigers, Sumatran elephants and Sumatran rhinoceroses. It also hosts over 400 bird species and become favorite spot for birdwatching activities on the lowland. 

In 2016, Way Kambas and Way Kanan as formally declared an ASEAN Heritage Park, threats to the park are posed by poaching and habitat loss due to illegal logging. Conservation efforts include patrolling and the establishment of the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary and the Elephant Conservation Centre. In 2019 and 2021, the International Rhino Foundation was working to capture three Sumatran rhinoceros in the park.

White-winged Duck “Rare”, Sunda Frogmouth, Brown Wood Owl Large Frogmouth, Reddish Scops Owl, Bonaparte’s Nightjar, Chestnut-breasted and Chestnut-bellied Malkohas, Scarlet-rumped Trogon, Red-naped Trogon and Diard’s Trogons, Sooty Barbet, Rufous-winged Philentoma, Buff-necked and Banded Woodpeckers, Grey-chested Jungle Flycatcher, and Plain Flowerpecker, Sooty capped Babbler, Dusky, Black-and-Red Broadbill, Black-and-Yellow Broadbills, Malaysian Blue Flycatcher, Red-crowned Barbet, Raffles’s Malkoha, Rufous-collared Kingfisher, White throated Kingfisher, Yellow-eared Spectacled Spiderhunters, Yellow-bellied and Puff-backed Bulbuls, Banded Broadbill, Green Broadbills, Buff rumped, Rufous, and Grey-and-Buff Woodpeckers, Rufous-collared Kingfisher, Red billed Malkoha. Sumatran Babbler, Buffy Fish Owl, Ruby-cheeked Sunbird, Malaysian Eared-Nightjars, Oriental Bay Owl, Malayan Banded Pitta and  Short-tailed Babbler.
Mammals : like a Sunda Leopard Cat, Sambar, Lesser Mouse Deer, and a very cute Sunda Slow Loris, Pig tailed macaque, Sumatran Eelephant and Sumatran Siamang.
